...bailey's story...

Our story is a story about a MIRACLE. It is not the kind of miracle that is so often shared in Christian circles. We have heard stories about untreatable cancer that disappeared and of a child that was never supposed to walk or talk and is now a healthy adult. These are often the kinds of stories people share with you when you are experiencing difficult circumstances. Stories about the TRAGEDY that was avoided or the near miss that is now in the rear view mirror of life. We value these types of stories and we CELEBRATE them!

Ours was not that kind of story. Our daughter Bailey Hope was born on February 20, 2009. She died on August 13, 2010. The eighteen months in between were horrible and heart wrenching as we experienced our worst fears coming true. We were not rescued FROM heartache and tragedy.

Our miracle was that we were joined IN this journey by friends and family that gave of themselves and by our GOD who held us in unexplainable ways. This is our story. We do not share it to garner pity. There are others who have similar stories. There are so many others who have more tragic stories.

We share our story because it is impossible to talk about our beautiful daughter, without talking about our beautiful God. We must talk about our daughter. We must talk about our God. It is the MIRACLE behind the MIRACLE.

  1. Dear Matt and Heather,
We rejoice with you in the birth of your precious little girls. We pray constantly for all of you, trusting God to work good through all of it. When you can't see the plan, trust His heart. Much easier said than done most of the time, but what a comfort to know that His heart is all about loving you and yours.

WE love you and can't wait to meet your gifts from His hand; precious little Bailey and Alexis.

  2. Matt and Heather,
My family is continuing to pray for you and your little ones. We know first ahnd the power of PRAYER and FAITH in GOD. My nephew nearly drowned (no heart beat for 45 minutes) this summer in a pond in our yard. GOD'S people immediately started begging God to save him. Today Owen is alive and almost back to normal. I tell you this to give you hope and peace. God is still in the business of miracles. The fact that precious Bailey gets to be a part of your family for you to love and hold is a miracle in itself. God can reach down and heal her but if He chooses not to He also will give you the strength and peace to accept that. What a precious little life He has entrusted you with. I will also pray for your older kids and Alexis. They will be ok and even better for seeing their Mommy and Daddy be so faithful and Godly. God will get them through when they need you and don't understand. He has their best interest in mind. You have been in my thoughts constantly and I have asked several of my friends to pray for your family. We love you!!

May God bless you and keep you.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
